The Healing Trauma for the World Project

The "Healing Trauma for the World Project" is a direct outcome of the May 2003 session of the Landmark Education Self-Expression and Leadership Program. This particular session was led by Nitzana York out of the Detroit, MI education center.

The possibility of the project is access to trauma healing techniques for the entire world. Specifically this is a campaign to reinvent the public information and what is known about the Traumatic Incident Reduction Association (TIRA). It came out of my realization that public knowledge and acceptance of our methods had advanced little in the past 10 years. The participants of this project are trauma trainers and senior practitioners of our method around the world. The project set out to increase measurable results of public awareness and utilization.

What has been accomplished so far is getting the stories about how successful we are in many areas out to the public. This means tapping resources that have been dormant for years. Below is the growing list of stories:

  • TIR and Crime Victims: conversation with Teresa Descilo (Aug 2003)
  • TIR and Rational Emotive Behaviorial Therapy (REBT): A conversation with Dr. Bob Moore (August 2003)
  • Meet the TIR Trainers: Learn about these dedicated individuals who are making a difference (July 2003)
  • TIR and Terrorism: Experiences with 9/11 Survivors (June 2003)
  • TIR, PTSD, and the Near Birth Experience: A conversation with Rev. Jerry Bongard (May 2003)

Here are stories I'm projecting to be started by August 25th, 2003

  • TIR and Green Cross Project: on the frontline of trauma relief
  • TIR and Emotional Freedom Technique: a comparison of methods and outcomes
  • TIR and Ministry: a conversation with Rev. 'Doc' Ullrich
  • TIR and Work Accidents: results of the London Underground initiative
  • TIR and Prisoners: a view from the other side
  • TIR and REBT: a conversation with Windy Dryden
  • TIR in Traumatology: Dr. Anna B. Baranowsky and the Traumatology Institute of Canada
  • Active Ingredient Study 10 years on: Dr. Charles Figley

What is intended for the future is to have the participants generate new public information out of a greater awareness of the technique and what it provides.

The next actions to take are publicizing the efforts so far to date and assembling a book length publication.
