Playing MP3 Audio CDs
There are many different ways to play MP3 Audio CDs. MP3 is a sound compression
technique that allows up to 30 hours of high fidelity recording on a single
ordinary CD. How does this work? When CDs were designed 25 years ago, there
was no allowance for compression because the electronics would have been too
expensive. Today, computers are cheap and ubiquitous. Here are some of the
most popular ways to play MP3 Audio CDs.
- MP3 CDs on your computer: any Windows XP computer includes Windows Media
Player (WMP) which is capable of playing MP3 CDs. Many people also use
RealPlayer or WinAmp free players which
also work just as well.
- MP3 CDs on a MP3 Walkman or MP3 Boombox: for maximum portability, you may
opt to buy a MP3 compatible portable stereo for under $50 which can play MP3
CDs. Here's a list of MP3 stereos you can buy
- MP3 CDs on a DVD player: many new DVD players, such as those from Apex
Corporation and Norcent are capable of playing MP3 CDs
- MP3 CDs on a car stereo CD player: many aftermarket
car stereos now support MP3 CDs.
- Download MP3 files to a portable MP3 player: these units plug into
your USB port and can hold hours of music without need for discs. Be advised
that LHPress MP3 files require at least a unit with 128MB RAM minimum.
- Burning MP3 files to conventional audio CD-Rs: you can compose a new
plain audio CD using files from an MP3 CD that you have. Using Nero or Roxio
Easy CD Creator, simply create a "music CD project", then drag-and-drop an
hour-long MP3 file onto your project. Burn the CD and then you're ready to
pop it into your automobile CD player or anything! All LHPress MP3 CDs include
a license to burn one copy on CDs for personal use.
