Playing MP3 Audio CDs There are many different ways to play MP3 Audio CDs. MP3 is a sound compression technique that allows up to 30 hours of high fidelity recording on a single ordinary CD. How does this work? When CDs were designed 25 years ago, there was no allowance for compression because the electronics would have been too expensive. Today, computers are cheap and ubiquitous.
